The new “Star Wars” film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has broken numerous
records with 529 million made opening weekend. The all new movie follows the original Star Wars trilogy from 1978. Many of the original cast members reprise their roles along with some new characters in the Star Wars universe. The film mainly focuses on finding the missing Luke Skywalker, and the new threat from the evil Kylo Ren. The film grossed 1 billion dollars in 12 days, breaking “Jurassic World” record of reaching one billion in 13 days. The film also is now the biggest Disney national opening and highest grossing Disney film, surpassing “The Avengers”. The highly anticipated film was met with rave reviews, some saying it was “the best “Star Wars” film to date”. The critics rated the film positively because of the similarity to the original three, with at the same time creating a new generation of Star Wars characters and exciting storyline. Disney is currently in the process of making a sequel and eventually a third movie, creating the newest “Star Wars” trilogy. The original 3 films and even the 3 prequels have all won an Oscar in their perspective years. Star Wars Episode VIII will be hitting theaters nationwide in spring 2018.
