This year, many Bishop Gorman students will be attending the L.A. Youth Day, held on February 25 in Anaheim, California. This is a two day event where students will stay at a Disneyland hotel for the duration of the trip. The Campus Ministry Leadership Group and about forty Bishop Gorman students will be involved in the event. This is an opportunity for high school students to participate in the Liturgy, workshops, entertainment and experiences unique to the Religious Education Congress.

The Religious Education Congress is the largest annual gathering of its kind in the world, and is sponsored by the Los Angeles Office of Religious Education. Youth Day actually takes up one day of the four days of the event. It is a day just for the youth portion of the attendees, and students from all over and from different religions come together. The event is targeted for Catholic private schools. Youth Day will be introducing a new workshop period. Each group will select either a morning or afternoon Arena General Session, so every student has the chance to see the Arena Speaker.

The L.A Youth Day will also include contemporary music and special speakers. Students can expect some fun group activities and exercises, but the RECongress will also address some serious issues facing faith today. Some of the workshops are about human trafficking, struggling with faith, and how to maintain faith while living in our busy world.

Previously Bishop Gorman planned A World Youth Day Trip, which would take place in Poland, but has been cancelled due to concerns about potential threats of terrorism. The L.A Youth Day is currently on schedule. The theme for Youth Day 2016 is #hopebound. Campus Ministry hopes the students will take in this experience and enjoy the event.
