Bishop Gorman’s Summer Trip

By Kevyn Hillegass

The Bishop Gorman summer European trip will tour Amsterdam, Bruges and Paris, May 25 – June 3, 2016. Mr. Lieb planned an exciting European experience for participating Bishop Gorman students.

The European trip has been sold out since the beginning of the trips this school year. They have had an average of about 50 people on each of the school trips over the past couple of years. 40 students, joined by a few parents, or sibling, and several chaperones.

When asked if recent terrorist attacks caused concern for students and chaperones, Mr. Lieb replied, “I am not nervous at the moment. I feel that most of Europe, and particularly cities like Paris, are probably safer now than they were before the recent act of terrorism. However, we will continue to monitor the situation, as the safety and security of our students is our top priority.”

The Kim Kardashian of Politics

image

On January 5, 2016, Carly Fiorina bashed Donald Trump on Twitter by calling him the Kim Kardashian of politics.
This may have been backlash from last year in September when Trump had made comments about Fiorina’s appearance during his interview with Rolling Stone saying, “Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that? The face of our next president?”.
Trump tried to recover his fault by commenting at the Republican primary debate and saying,“I think she has a very beautiful face, and she’s a beautiful woman,” talking about Fiorina. But, the damage had already been done. And the comment did not help his reputation of being sexist.
Fiorina had tweeted, “Donald Trump reminds me of the Kim Kardashian of politics. They’re both famous for being famous – and the media plays along.” Although the tweet had explained itself it had sparked a debate that even Kim Kardashian might be a better president than Trump. “Kim is far more qualified to be president than Trump. She is way more famous. Her reality TV show was far better than Trump’s. And Kim has 35 million followers on Twitter compared to Trump’s paltry four million followers. It’s not even close,” wrote Cody Cain for Huffington Post.
